Earthquake in Haiti
Haiti is one of the most Christian countries in the world. Faith in an imaginary being cannot protect you, and praying to that imaginary being will not help you. For anybody who is offering prayers to the people of Haiti, they don't need your prayers, they need your help. Give $20 or $50 to the Red Cross or Doctors Without Borders, then pray all you'd like.

'They don't need your prayers, they need your help.'
This.
If an atheist charity ever should open up, then this should be its slogan.
Guess what, I can (and have) do(done) both.
I love that quote. It should definitely be a slogan. I feel like it should be voiced. :D I'm going to start saying it. "They don't need your prayers, they need your help."
You shouldn't give them your prayers, because statistically, people that are prayed for tend to do worse than people that are not prayed for.
Prayer is only so YOU feel good about it, while ACTUAL help makes you BOTH better.
Hey, bad label, should be "anti-prayer."
Hey all, I heard that some priest declared that the earthquake was a result of the Haiti people signing a deal with the devil, by allowing something to do with the french? so God punished them. Do you know the story behind this?
I thought this page was good because it filled in a few more details than just the quote:

And here's the youtube video:

Excellent article.
It is amazing how theists manage to explain everything to themselves through a "divine puppet show". Sadly, opinions like this can affect people's willingness to donate or send aid, or worse, only to do so under conditions of baptism or attending religious activities.
The poor catholic raised (uneducated) Hatians that survived this horrible natural occurance are thanking god for their individual survival. Come on, I know they are in shock , but isn't this an excellent example of the absence of god. Look around, why you?? is this Hatian's life more valuable than the other ten's of thousands of dead Haitians. Also, Pot Au Price sits on the N. amer. and Carrib. tectonic plate. Bad luck for the building of a capitol that's all.You live if you're lucky to be not in the wrong place.
Pleae lets use this tragedy to expose what most progressive thinker know. god is no where in the rubble or sitting high on a white cloud deciding weho lives and who dies. Nothing, nothing; sorry my Hatian friends my heart and wallet go out to you. Prayer seems so useless the more our modern instantaneaous media covers disaters.
PAT PAT ROBERTSON said in 1805, or there abouts the Haitains struck a deal with the devil to gain their independence from their french slave owners and now their great, great, etc. grandchildren are paying the price?!?! This guy should spend the next month helping these poor helpless, religiously, misguided people from a complete chaotic meltdown.
PAT ROBERTSON (if I was religious you're smerky laugh and silly grin would lead me to believe you are the devil) but I'm not a bone head sheep and I guess you are just a huge asshole of a human being. I hope someone has wexpressed this opinion to him without pulling any punches. Dick!
Dear All
Apparently some christian group read this post and decided to do the exact opposite. Please check this article:
http://gizmodo.com/5452832/christian-group-to-save-haitians-with-solar+powered-bibles
Now that's of great help if you are underneath a pile of rubble, your children are sick and starving or if you've got one or several limbs amputated.
Has humanitarian aid ever been more practical than a cordless bible?
Too bad they don't ship each of those with your own solar-powered, miracle-making god.
That article, with the commenters going on about their 'spiritual needs' makes me sick.
What they need is food, water and medicine. End of.
Don't supplement that with any crap (especially your propaganda) when you could just bring more of what they actually do need. How much blood is indirectly on this organisation's hands?
Cypher, I propose we do an experiment in which we lock some Christians in a room with just a Bible (hell, why not 2 Bibles each?!), and a group of atheists in another room with food and water. Toilet facilities will be provided. Then we see which group lives longest. Last group left alive is the winner!
Oh, and the Christians we choose should be affiliated with this Bible-giving group.
I wonder how long it would be before they ate the most holy book? Never mind cannibalism, lets see them really eat their 'spirit's food.'
Have heard that 10 people from a church group are being charged for child trafficing. Of couse they say they have "good" intentions. What makes these people think whatever they do in the name of there church/God is "good"? some of these childeren still had there parents and yet they still tryed to steal them.
Well well apparently Chileans also befriended the Devil and got served.
Not as bad though, so they might not need as much praying for everything to be magically rebuilt, as we all saw happening in Haiti.
Nonetheless, I am sure cristians, should hurry up and send a few solar powered bibles to Santiago in the event god decides to send another tsunami for the sinful cavernet they made last year.
:)
