No exorcisms needed on pedophile priests

Here's a fun one!  Check the headline:

Top Catholic exorcist: Pedophiles tempted by Satan, not possessed

Among the many factual statements this man makes in the article which he cannot demonstrate to be true:

"The devil tempts everyone -- people in politics, in economics, in sport. And naturally, he tempts, above all, the religious leaders, so you shouldn't be surprised if the devil tempts those in the Vatican. That's his job."

Why isn't it tempting me?

"But cases of pedophilia exorcised, no. ... Pedophiles are not possessed by the devil, they are tempted by the devil,"

Thanks for clearing that up!

"They don't need exorcism, they need to be converted, to be converted to God, that's what they need. They need to confess, they need true penitence, true repentance, that's what they need. They're not possessed."

"Nothing occurs without the permission of God, and he allows even holy people, even saints, to be possessed by the devil,"

Then the article closes with:

"I just see good people in the Vatican. People of prayer, holy people, I don't see any evil."

I have a question.... What about exorcisms on those who covered it up?

Wait, I have another question....  Can you believe there are people this stupid on Earth?

It astounds me that someone would try to justify molesting children like this. I would love to see that as an actual trial defense.

"How do you plead?"

"Possessed by Satan, your Honor."

I could see that working for some people in my state sadly...

Really now, why must we continually shift the blame off of the weaknesses, faults, and selfishness of criminals, and onto beings who supposedly get god's permission to use these faults to get people to do things that make god hate them?

These people don't need god, they need therapy.

OK then... a child is placed in front of a person , this is the work of the devil placing this child out as bait. So my question to creationists is why would so called "good" person see a child tempting? The temptation/desire comes before the bait. Not the other way round.

Excellent point ANTZILLA. You can't tempt someone with something they don't want in the first place.

In short, what they are saying is: god allows priests to rape children. And, we need to praise him.

It doesn't make sense!

You know that the Mexican Episcopate said this week? "The number of child molestation cases within the police and military forces is significantly larger than within the catholic church. A few sectors just want to tarnish the reknown reputation of our institution by focusing on isolated cases of confused priests".

So, when the satan defense fails, point your finger at someone else!

Where does the child fit into this?
God allows the devil to use a child as bait, to test the temptation of one of his servants? Priest fails test and is punished. What about the poor kid probably destined for a life of depression then suicide.

I doubt the child is happy about gods plan for him.

That's part of the disgrace of religious hand-waving excuses. There often seems to be somebody who, if their explanation is correct, gets royally screwed by a bastardly monster of a god.

The kid will probably go to hell because I'm sure somewhere they have a rule about getting raped and molested is a sin. Or speaking out against the clergy is a sin. Whatever the rule, I'm certain that the kid committed a sin in the eyes of the church, so that the church can more easily shut the kid up about what the priests were doing.

"Don't tell anyone I raped you, or you'll go to Hell."

Now it seems instead of trying these molesters, the church will only ban them from attending mass outside their diocese. Like that's a punishment.

"I simply want to live out the time that I have left in the dignity of my priesthood".

And fcking Ratzinger said yes. Just beautiful.

I wonder why they have not come up with this yet:
