You're just bitter towards my god!

I haven't posted for a while.  Been very busy.  I know I've got a couple of emails to respond to, and some other posts I want to write.  Anyway, I just received this about 5 minutes ago:

"In my extensive experience of listening to Atheists they often have a bitterness towards religion or God based on some particular past experience. The easiest thing to do is persist on an all out attack on God as you appear to be doing rather than take a more sensitive look for, what you might find, are more positive and helpful answers."

Honestly, what is wrong with you people?  You don't know shit about atheists!  You claim to have 'extensive experience', but think that we don't believe because we're 'bitter towards (your) god'?  Yes, that's it!  It couldn't possibly be that your god cannot be demonstrated any more than anybody else's god, or that nobody has ever given me any good reason to believe they exist.  I went to a Catholic school from the time I was 4 until 18.  They had plenty of chance to make their case, and they failed.  You don't think I looked then?  Nobody has ever been able to demonstrate to me that there is such a thing as 'outside this universe', where such a creature might reside.  Nobody has ever demonstrated the principles of omniscience or omnipotence, which the Christians claim.  Nobody has demonstrated that prayer works (despite the claims of one fairly persistent reader of this site).  No, that couldn't be it!

Clearly I'm out of my fucking mind because I don't believe in the invisible man, who you admit does not give any reason to think it exists, according to your constant claims of the non-testability of its existence.

No, wait!  I just found a god!  It was one of the gods of the ancient people of Siberia.  How could I have been so foolish?!  It wants me to tell you to look really hard, and you might find it, too!  Then you can stop worshiping your false idol, and do what the one true god wants.  It wants you to drink milk every Monday, and to drive only blue cars.  If you don't, you'll be tortured forever in a very icy place, where it is so cold that your balls will freeze and your dick will suffer from constant shrinkage.

The coward didn't even include his/her return email address so that I can reply.  Fucking ignorant twit!

Edit:  My experience at Catholic school was normal.  There were no nuns there.  I was never hit by a teacher.  I was never raped or molested by my priest.  Prayer didn't fail to save one of my family members from death.  It's simply that I never found any reason to believe that anything any of these people was saying was true. I also never found any reason to put the claims of Christianity above those of any other religion, and I can't believe that more people don't feel the same way about that issue.  I blame their ignorance of the world outside their culture.  I am not attacking your god (it doesn't exist), I am attacking YOU for believing in it.

I completely agree with Admins sentiments.
I have another angle to look at this.

Humans live in societies; these societies have evolved (adapted) for survival. So any action that is contradicts to helping that society survived are removed e.g. rape, crime in general etc. So people in today’s societies have learnt from past mistakes and evolved/adapted accordantly. Past societies that have had slavery, tendances toward warmongering have either found the errors in this and removed these traits or have died out. Vikings come to mind.

So..
>>"In my extensive experience of listening to Atheists they often have a bitterness towards religion or God based on some particular past experience.<<

Societies have learnt form past experiences of religions that this religious mindset (slavery, wars, pericution, and gullibility) is NOT beneficial to society. Atheists/societies moral standards have bitterness towards belief in God/s is in the best interest of the survival/ adaptation of society.

Atheism is the removal of unwanted, unbeneficial traits in our societies.

Hmmm, I also doubt this douche having any experience with atheism.

Yet he is another theist all too happy to judge us atheists as unhappy and bitter.

Do they assume that happiness correlates to eating flesh and drinking blood during communal feasts led by pedophiles?

If that ever made me happy, I would have me shot in the head, twice.

And yes, it is easy to mock their array of imaginary friends, but I am convinced that believing in fairy tales looking for "positive and helpful answers", is BY FAR the easiest thing to do in the whole world: you have to exert no intellect at all.oz

You get on thing wrong. There is an outside to the universe. Though of incredible size, the universe has an edge, a border, beyond which is something (or someone) we still know nothing about.

The begining of all science is "we don't know" followed by "lets find out."

Admin said...

Sandi, has it ever been demonstrated that the Universe has an 'edge' or 'border'? I don't think it has, and believe it is one of the leading questions in cosmology. The question might turn out to not even be sensible to ask.

But even if it does, we'd still need reason to believe that it is possible for a being to live there, and that such a being would still be capable of interacting with our universe.

hope this link works properly (i've had such a hard time with links lately)

http://map.gsfc.nasa.gov/media/060917/index.html

Theres a picture here, of the edge of the universe, the remenants of the first trillionth of a second of the universe.

Yes I know cosmology debates the idea, but this looks like pretty good evidence that there is an edge to me. (For now, if/when we get out there we may be wrong, but we don't know.)

The term universe means everything. Now with current knowledge we have the term "known universe" or our 'dimension'. So our know universe/ dimension is expanding (has an edge) and taking up more room in outer (unknown) universe which is limitless. There is still no god/s in the unknown universe.

The crazies just want us to be in their crazy reality. Because that's the only way they can communicate.

Sandi, that link is a picture of the sky, as seen from Earth. It is two-dimensional. It is not indicative of the shape of the Universe when viewed from 'outside'. By boundary/edge of the Universe, I assume that means a point beyond which nobody can pass. However, I think some people think that the Universe is "round", like our planet, so if you travel for a long time in one direction, you end up back at the same place.
Much like there is no boundary to Earth when considered as two-dimensional, space may not have a boundary.

The question is interesting, but not important to the point of the post, so I don't want to side-track too much.

Sandi. Let me clear something up for here.

What you brought up is WMAP. This picture shows, not the edge of the universe, but rather the background radiation of the universe. And it is not showing the universe a trillionth of a second after it was formed, it is showing the universe approximately 300 million years after it was formed. I know the little sidebar states the first trillionth of a second, however, if you read up further on the WMAP you will learn that in the frist trillionth of a second the expansion of the universe was pretty much defined already, so the WMAP confirms this by the almost perfect arrangement of radiation. For the first 300 million years or so, the universe was so densely packed with matter, that not even light could move.

This picture, however, does not in anyway imply that our universe has an edge. It is just showing the edge of the expansion of the matter. Space (The empty stuff the universe occupies) goes on forever and ever. People often get the terms confused. Our universe is just the matter. Space is what the universe expands into. There is an edge to the matter, yes, but not the space.

There is no proof, evidence, or even suggestion that space has an end. In fact, most theories suggest that space is infinite. And with good reason. If space had an edge, that would imply that it was contained in something. And that something would exert a force on us. And we know that is not true, thus space has no edge.

Even if space had an edge (Which it doesn't), that edge would be over 13.7 billion light years away in any direction. For some being beyond that to care about anything on a tiny planet in a ordinary solar system in an unremarkable galaxy in a boring local group, in some remote part of the universe is ridiculous as a theory at best. Psychotic at worst.

-- Doesn’t relate to this blog--

Does anyone have a good way to explain (to retard fucking creationist) that abiogenius/ origin of life doesn't rely on chance. I have tried to point out under the right conditions life in a CERTAINTY.

I've used baking of cake as an example. The cook doesn't magically make the cake appear (creationism). Nor does the random addition of ingredients and heat make a cake (false ideas of abiogenius) however a cake (life) is a certainty if the RIGHT ingredients are added in the right quantities and subjected to the RIGHT amount of heat. (abiogenius)

This description hasn't gotten my point across >:(
I've gotten replies that the cake wouldn't exist without the cook.
(Creationism) FUCK!

So when science discovers the exact requirements (recipe) for abiogenius will creationists then claim that this is product of God as some creationist have claimed evolution is God doing?

Admin said...

Antzilla, I'm sorry, but are you at a blog where reason is not welcome, magic is everything, and trying to get people to admit that they were wrong, therefore losing face? Good luck!

But if you must:

1. Can they prove that the cook even exists? We can prove that ours exists. It's called chemistry.

2. If they think they can, then wouldn't their cook not exist without another cook?

3. Can they describe the recipe that their cook used to make our cake, or would they just like to stop the questions?

Jim said...

If their God really is the end-all be-all of their religion, the alpha and omega, then you can easily apply their argument against them. If God created us, then doesn't that mean something created God?

No self-respecting Christian would ever agree that their God was created, thus using their own logic to disprove their claims that there had to be an initial "cook".

But, as we all know, the religious types bypass logic and won't understand that their own arguments disprove their own theories.

So good luck with that.

Antzilla, have you ever read this post?

http://www.atheistpropaganda.com/2008/09/my-embarrassing-fantasies.html

It's pointless to argue with these people, because they assert in advance that nothing would ever be good enough. All we can do is laugh at them.

ANTZILLA said...

Cheers Admin,Jim
I shall continue my laughing at them. Unless of cause I'm in Alabama USA where I'll be running from rock throwers.
The rational mind boggles on how fucking stupid these people are.

- One other thing in Australia the government is all scared of terrorist and have resently intoduced webpage filters/ scanning, I guess to find if terrorist are colaborating on certain sites. However I've started to see the "scanning be pateint" screen before I open "Atheist Propaganda", 'Freindly Atheist'and "debunking Christainity" but not on sites like "debunking atheists" and other Christian/theist sites. These theist sites openly declare other beliefs to be wrong and should be removed etc.

WTF since when has any Atheist delared Jihad on anyone or straped bombs to themselfs????

Feki said...

This Big Mate is really disturbing, I'd imagine too that terror comes from religious types not from people who have no divine mandate to blow things up. Have they also extended the scan to email accounts and chat rooms?

It sounds like discrimination and makes me wonder if somebody is bitter at atheists.

ANTZILLA said...

Feki,
I'm not sure as to the extent of the screening. The Australian government is still rittled with old fuddy duddies. I just heard on the radio this morning that creationists like in the USA are now trying to push there creationism into schools to be taught along side evolution. However in Australia the young generations will be no doubt be laughing this out of the classroom if it is ever implemented.

BOMB,BOMB,BOMB, if your reading this and are form some security branch of the government YOUR GOD DOESN'T EXSIST!! FUCK YOU were on the side of PEACE. RELIGION = WARS
SO STOP WASTEING MY TAX AND DO SOME PROPER WORK.
