Atheism is the absence of theism, the belief in a diety of some sort. Well, just because one is atheist does not preclude that there is no sort of afterlife of any kind. I can believe this is all a dream, or a computer program run in an ultimately godless universe, hence, suggesting there may be some sort of life after death. However, you claim that the worst part about being an atheist is that we (yes, I am atheist) never get the chance to say &quot;I told you so&quot;. Yet, this statement is based on the assumption that the only form of afterlife is heaven in a judeo-christian sense. We may yet have a chance to say &quot;I told you so&quot; just, I believe, not in heaven. <br /><br />Sorry, that just irked me a little bit; it&#39;s nothing important.<br /><br />Now to the more important point, it seems that your site is not so much dedicated to atheism as it is logic, analytical skills (critical thinking), and open-mindedness. Yet, because many of the people lacking these traits tend to fall into religion, you, as many others, have chosen to attack religions (in particular, Christianity). There is a difference between fighting for atheism and fighting for those other traits; a fight for the latter largely precludes the use of rhetorical language, only what is required for a sound arguement. Otherwise, you may be seen as hypocritical and will not be trusted (ultimately hurting your cause). On the other hand, a fight for atheism allows rhetorical language. In fact, one can be as &#39;fundamentalist&#39; an atheist as one can be a Christian. Because atheism and theism are both based on faith, while logic is a great rhetorical strategy, it is not required, and its ultimate weakness lies in the fact that it can only <b>suggest</b> a possibility, but cannot conclusively prove it (as is true for all things, but on less touchy subjects people generally agree on certain axioms). Anyhow, the point is that, while I haven&#39;t looked at every article, it doesn&#39;t seem like you&#39;re totally clear on which you&#39;re supporting. <br /><br />Why does it matter? It seems to me that atheists tend to confuse the two as one thing (i.e. atheism = logical, analytical, open-minded thinking). Furthermore, it seems that a lot more progress could be made if you, not only fought illogical idiocy directly, but perhaps at the root (admittedly, I honestly believe it&#39;s a nearly unsolvable problem and the only recourse is to, ironically, have a 1984-style program to eliminate mysticism and then replace it with good ol&#39; education in logic and science). Anyway, I know it can be easy to confuse religion/theism with idiocy, but the two are seperate, albeit highly related, entities.<br /><br />It&#39;s 2:20 AM, I hope you excuse me for not proof-reading the comment, if there are any grammatical or spelling errors, my apologies.
